There are some wonderful local places to dine in and to get a takeaway from. Opening times, availability and booking conditions may vary so advance reservations are recommended where possible.
Fisherman’s Return - Winterton
A 300 year-old brick and flint free-house in the centre of the village serving real ales, and freshly prepared food. Lazy Days Cottage and Moonfleet House are a only a couple of minutes walk from the Fisherman's Return, so it is a perfect location to either sit inside or outdoors for a drink or, to sample the tasty food. The menu has a great variety including a specials board and they provide vegetarian and vegan options, plus a kids menu. Dogs are very welcome. Tel: 01493 393305.
The Farmers - Ormesby
A country pub and dining establishment offering an extensive food menu using quality products sourced locally. Lots of menu choice including vegan and kids options and one of the best Sunday lunchs aroudn with their infamous sharing tray of vegetables and sides. Highwayman at the Hermanus Hotel - Winterton (open during the summer season only)
No visit to Winterton would be complete without a visit to the distinctive thatched pastel roundhouses, the Hermanus and their fantastic view over Winterton valley and out to sea. There’s a choice of bar meals or you can dine in the Highwayman restaurant - booking is highly recommended. The Hermanus is walking distance from Lazy Days Cottage and Moonfleet House or they have a large car park. Tel: 01493 393216.
Winterton Fish Bar
Who can’t resist fish and chips? A minutes walk from Lazy Days Cottage and just across the road from Moonfleet House, there is no excuse to not visit. All food is cooked to order and you can pre-order over the phone or on your way to the pub, collecting it on your way home! Check their shop front for daily frying times, cash and card payments. Lacon Arms - Hemsby
The Lacon Arms is a pub in Hemsby practically on the beach which serves real ales as well as the usual range of wines, soft drinks etc plus it also serves a range of food including a vast Sunday carvery. Great sea views and a family friendly beer garden with a super kids play area. They have a large car park and welcome dogs on leads, with water bowls always available. Nelson Head - Horsey
The Nelson Head pub in the village of Horsey is a free-house with a huge open fire in the bar area, a full menu and daily specials. Kitchen opening hours are lunch (12-3) and evening (6-8) and the pub is open daily, however during the winter the kitchen can closes early. They do not take bookings for lunch so arrive early; their Sunday lunch is great but be there at noon to get a table. There is a great walk leading from the Nelson Head down to the beach which is a perfect spot for seal watching. The Street, Horsey, NR29 4AD.
Poppy’s - Winterton
A pretty friendly village store, tea room and post office right in the centre of the community. Poppy's tea rooms has recently opened selling delicious homemade cakes and authentic coffee. Open daily until 5pm most days (Sundays may be earlier). Dogs on a lead are welcome in the tea rooms.
The Waterside - Rollesby
Situated on Rollesby Broad, The Waterside is home to a cafe / tearoom with family facilities that include boat hire, a wildlife hide, fishing, children’s play area and a putting green. This gem of a place is open daily, year round serving brunch/lunch right through to afternoon tea. There is lots of parking on site and dogs are welcome.
The Ingham Swan
This is a stunning restaurant; beautiful award winning food in a wonderful environment and only 20 minutes away from Winterton. Recently added to the Michelin Guide, it is certainly a destination dining experience not to be missed. It is open 7 days a week, serving lunch and dinner, The Swan is definitely worth a visit.
Poppylands -Horsey
Pretty WWII themed tea room in Horsey where, once you step inside you are taken back to the 1940's. Dogs are welcome at Poppylands, the food is home-made and there is a gift shop. Open 10-4, their afternoon teas are worth travelling miles and miles for!

Dunes Cafe, Waxham Barn
Stunning country cafe sat alongside the historic Waxham Great Barn and a short walk to the beach. They serve home cooked food throughout the day and they also serve wine and beer. It is the sister cafe of the previous Winterton Dunes Cafe and current Dunes River Cafe in Acle. Dogs are very welcome and there is lots of parking available. Waxham Road, NR12 0DZ.
Hirst's Farm Shop and Dabs N Crabs, Ormesby St Margaret
Farm Shop offering a wide range of own grown and local produce. Homemade pies and pastries along with coffees and cake on offer for takeaway plus brand new cafe with a wonderful menu including breakfast and Sunday roasts. Beef, Lamb, Pork and Chicken Roasting joints Marinated BBQ meats Sausages and Hirstys Beef Burgers. Fresh fruit, vegetables, milk and bread plus Norfolk wine also! Visit the farm shop and pick up some gorgeous goods such as Free range eggs, Norfolk farmhouse ice cream, Norton’s cheese, local honey and homegrown fruit and vegetables, again only 3 miles away.
